Gas Explosion Damages Homes in Pathum Thani

PATHUM THANI — A gas explosion tore through a townhouse complex in Ban Klang, Mueang Pathum Thani, in the early hours of March 30, causing extensive property damage but no injuries, authorities confirmed.

Gas Explosion in Samut Prakan Injures Man, Damages Three Homes

The blast occurred at approximately 3:00am at house number 194/115, originating in the kitchen. The home suffered severe structural damage, with flying debris affecting neighboring houses and vehicles in the area.

Family Unharmed

Homeowner Wannarat Winyukool, 43, was asleep with his wife and two daughters, aged 12 and 14, at the time of the explosion. He confirmed that no cooking was taking place and no gas had been left on prior to the blast. CCTV footage captured the moment of the explosion, showing flames erupting from the residence.

Neighboring Properties Affected

Eight neighboring homes sustained minor to moderate damage, while several vehicles in the vicinity were struck by debris. A 15-litre gas cylinder and connected equipment have been collected for forensic examination.

Neighboring resident Pongsapat Wongyala reported that his kitchen, adjacent to the origin house, was damaged by the blast. He was asleep at the time and escaped uninjured, though debris and glass were scattered across his property.

Official Response

Pol Lt Col Manit Khemnu of Suan Prikthai Police Station, together with local authorities including Ban Klang municipality, responded to the scene. Pathum Thani Governor Ekawit Meephan visited the site at 10:00am to assess the damage and coordinate assistance.

A relief center has been established at the village management office to process insurance claims and provide aid to affected homeowners. Insurance representatives have also begun assessing the site to document property damage for compensation purposes.

Investigation Ongoing

Forensic teams are conducting detailed examinations to determine the precise cause of the explosion, taking samples and inspecting the gas cylinder and connection setup. According to Daily News, authorities plan to complete their investigation before reaching a final determination.
